Event Description:
Brain Awareness Week Rijeka is traditionally organized for 22 years in a row. Every year we are preparing a lot of different activities like lectures for the general population or students to promote neuroscience or mental health, panels for specific diseases which is than discussed from a different aspects, workshops for kids in schools and for elderly people in nursing homes and many other activities like quizzes, walks, volunteer actions and others.
This year's focus is on diseases that are commonly affecting the younger population like ADHD, autism, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and brain tumours and our idea is to show people that there is a solution and treatment for every disease including the mentioned ones. Also, we want to talk about some sensitive topics in our society like why it is so embarrassing to go to a psychiatrist or psychologist, or where is the border between normal, reasonable drinking and alcoholism, why are short videos on social networks ( Reels videos) so addicting and why are they sometimes good and sometimes very bad.
