About This Event

Event Description:

"Dr. Brain Dude" (aka Dr. Russell J. Buono) will lead a team of volunteers from the local Philadelphia Chapter Society for Neuroscience (PCSFN) with two exhibits at the Franklin Institute (FI) for Brain Awareness Week (BAW). The first is the human brain display where visitors can hold a real human brain and learn about its structure and function. The second is the animal brain display with brains from mouse to dolphin and an opportunity to hold the specimens and learn about comparative brain anatomy and function. Beginning in 2000, the PCSFN has held BAW events at the FI and over the years grew to an event of over 50 volunteers with 15 different exhibits. Covid-19 in stopped us from our 20th year in 2020, but now we are returning with a smaller footprint as we look to regrow the event to its former size in future yeas. The FI is the busiest science museum in Pennsylvania and will have thousands of visitors on Friday March 17th 2023. All who pay to enter the museum will be able to interact with the BAW activities at no extra cost.
