About This Event
Event Description:
Graduate students and research staff from the Department of Pharmacology at SIU School of Medicine organized “Brain Awareness Day” for 8th grade students at Franklin Middle School on Friday, March 3rd, 2023.
During the event, students and research staff delivered an engaging presentation about brain anatomy and physiology that included a sheep brain demonstration and a memory game. The presentation was a great opportunity for students to learn about the complexities of the brain in a fun and interactive way.
The Department of Pharmacology supported this event by providing sheep brains and freebies for the kids. The Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives provided interactive handouts and booklets to support the event. We extend special thanks to 8th grade science teachers Brett Troemper and Camille Alger for the opportunity to teach their wonderful students.
