Brain Awareness Week 2021: COVID-19 the possible aftermath and consequences this health pandemic may be affecting the brain

The health crisis of COVID-19 that since the beginning of 2020 has been affecting most of the countries of the world, exceeding 101.6 million people infected and 2.1 million deaths, has generated great concern in the scientific world about knowing more about its symptoms, prevention measures, treatments as well as its possible physical and psychological repercussions on the person who come to suffer from the disease, whose effects are still uncertain and which has launched a great research activity in the scientific community.
That is why, in the context of the brain week, founded by the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives (DABI) with the purpose of promoting public awareness and educational work in favor of promoting knowledge of the brain, its diseases , and the preventive measures for the care of the Dr. Samuel Ramírez Moreno Psychiatric Hospital, of the Psychiatric Care Services joins these commemorative activities to be held from March 15 to 20, 2021, we have believed it necessary to focus our attention on, the possible aftermath and consequences that this health pandemic may be affecting brain structures and their cognitive, emotional and behavioral functions not only in people who have suffered from the disease, but also in society in general, which in their different age groups have seen indirectly affected in their development, coexistence and socialization processes.

La crisis sanitaria de COVID19 que desde inicios del 2020 ha venido afectando a la mayoría de los países del mundo superando los 101,6 millones de personas infectadas y 2.1 millones de fallecidos, ha generado gran preocupación en el mundo científico en torno a conocer más sobre su sintomatología, medidas de prevención, tratamientos así como sus posibles repercusiones físicas y psicológicas en la persona que llegan a padecer la enfermedad, cuyos efectos aún se encuentran inciertas y que ha puesto en marcha una gran actividad de investigación en la comunidad científica.
Es por ello, que, en el contexto en la semana de cerebro, fundado por Dana Alliance for Brain Iniciatives (DABI) con el propósito de promover la conciencia pública y la labor educativa en favor de promover el conocimiento del cerebro, sus enfermedades, y las medidas preventivas para el cuidado del Hospital Psiquiátrico Dr. Samuel Ramírez Moreno, de los Servicios de Atención Psiquiátrica se suma nuevamente a estas actividades conmemorativas a celebrarse del 15 al 20 de marzo de 2021, hemos creído necesario, enfocar nuestra atención en ,las posibles secuelas y consecuencias que esta pandemia sanitaria puede estar afectando las estructuras cerebrales y sus funciones cognitivas, emocionales y conductuales no solo en las personas que han padecido la enfermedad, sino también la sociedad en general que en sus distintos grupos de edad se han visto afectados de manera indirecta en sus procesos de desarrollo, de convivencia y socialización.
