About This Event

Event Description:

We have organized an event with the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy (YBA) to teach 3rd through 8th graders about neuroscience in general and how it relates to baseball. We’re going to be hosting three separate evenings of activities that week with the intention of reaching in total almost 120 students and ~40 adult volunteers and Academy staff. The idea is that we’ll have a short introduction to neuroscience and a demonstration of how our brains control our movements using materials from Backyard Brains and how it relates to playing baseball. The students will then have time to visit different stations with different neuroscience themed activities at each, including response time challenges, vision shifting hitting and catching, and the importance of wearing helmets and protecting our spines when batting.
