Camp Zenith

Event Description:

Camp Zenith, a program of Children’s Hospital Colorado and hosted by Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center, is a 4-day overnight camp for children ages 8-18 years who have sustained brain injuries at some point in their development. BOEC staff organizes the daily camp structure and activities with support from the Children’s Hospital Colorado staff. All staff members work together to provide the needed structure and stability for guaranteed fun and success of all campers! Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center staff take the lead in planning the menu, setting up gear and equipment, facilitating the ropes course, canoeing, hiking, climbing, and all activities while the participants are at camp.

Staff from Children’s Hospital Colorado support the campers by helping children as needed to promote fun and adventure in the outdoors! Campers will be involved in a variety of activities throughout the week which may include; hiking, team/friendship building exercises, canoeing, climbing and much more!

As in the prior years, Camp Zenith has become an opportunity for many children with brain injuries to try new things in a safe environment, meet new friends and excel at activities they would not otherwise be exposed to secondary to their physical, cognitive, or social demands. Overall, the camp is a FUN experience and a week children and staff look forward to each year.

We strive to provide enough activity to engage the children all day long, while also supporting their need for quiet time or naps depending on each child’s need.
