A Series of Wellness Events for Brain Awareness Week, March 13 – 19

Join your downtown community for Healthy Brain, Healthy You, a series of exciting classes, workshops and talks for Brain Awareness Week—an international celebration inspired by the Dana Foundation highlighting how brain science affects our everyday lives, no matter your age.

In addition to free events, we welcome staff and community members to take advantage of free 14Y programs during Brain Awareness Week including in-person fitness classes, aquatics programs, access our refreshed fitness center, and attend infant and toddler classes. Learn more here.

Kick Off Brain Awareness Week Early:
Creatures on the Move: Exploring Animals through Dance and Neuroscience with Sloka Iyengar
Monday, March 6 | 12:45 – 2:00 PM
Inspired by the diverse movement of animals, Sloka will guide participants through gentle warm-ups followed by exploring animals around us to re-create their movement in dance.

Brain Dance with Julie Gayer Kris and Live Music by Yuka Aikawa
Tuesday, March 14 | 10:00 – 11:00 AM
Join this fun movement practice for all ages that is designed to integrate and strengthen the brain-body connection.

Healthy Brain Aging with Tatianne Martinez, FNP-BC
Tuesday, March 14 | 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
This virtual event, in partnership with NYU Langone Health, will explore Alzheimer’s disease including risk factors, the role of sleep, and how to prevent or slow its onset.

Acupuncture for Relaxation and Rejuvenation
Thursday, March 16 | 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Senior students from Pacific College of Health and Science – US’s largest college of acupuncture and Chinese medicine – will provide a “feel good” ear acupuncture treatment in a community group setting.

Art Talk with Experiments: Color and Visual Perception with Rachel Urkowitz, Visual Artist
Friday, March 17 | 10:00 – 11:00 AM
Explore the arts and engage in fun experiments using our eyes, our brains, and colors.

Brain Health Social with Magda Kaczmarska
