About This Event
Event Description:
The proposed event is addressed to school pupils and its objective is to familiarize them with basic current knowledge of Neuroscience and different aspects of brain research. It is organized by the Academy of Neuroscience (http://acne.gr/) in collaboration with the Planetarium on the Go (http://www.planetariumotg.com/).
The following activities are included in the proposed public event:
1. Exploring the Brain film “From the first steps…. until the 21st century neuroscience”. This is a documestary that summarizes the milestones of neuroscience history. The project focuses on the greatest inventions that changed the way that neuroscientists think about the structure and function of the nervous system
2. Exhibition of educational material related to different aspects of Neuroscience for secondary school pupils and adults. This will provide an interactive learning of basic macroscopic characteristics of the human brain on models and microscopic neuronal morphology on brightfield microscopes. Visitors will also have the opportunity to see on monitors, videos with examples of neurons activated in different situations, like place cells in hippocampal formation and neurons of the occipital lobe.
