Can fear heal us? Ayahuasca is a psychotropic plant used for religious purposes in the Amazon. Psychotropic effects are produced by a plant Psychotria viridis that contains N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) – a serotoninergic receptor 2A agonist. During the lecture we’ll observe the ayahuasca phenomenon both objectively – what is happening in the brain (EEG, fMRI) before, during and after the consumption and subjectively – with stories/experiences people had with ayahuasca – while feeling an intensive fear they experienced catharsis and a positive psychotherapeutic effect
