About This Event
Event Description:
We know that many times, if not the vast majority of them, women are invisible in the academic environment and are on the margins of the highlights in their scientific careers, in addition to being frequently admitted to laboratories not for their intellectual contributions, but. instead, due to the stereotype of the workforce. meticulous, organized and perfectionist work, limiting their roles as researchers and placing them as research “equipment”. Experimental protocols, as there are well-known differences between genders in affective disorders and in response to drugs and treatments, the under-representation of females in animal research hinders the ability to generalize evidence obtained in experimental models for humans. Thus, the proposed activity aims to emerge discussions about the contributions of feminism in the face of the challenges that the scientific career brings us, the invisibility of women as a researcher and the importance of establishing adequate scientific protocols that result in more reliable data and that contemplate the gender differences. The activity will be carried out on a thematic table model with researchers who will explain the themes that permeate feminism, research and neuroscience. It is hoped that this discussion will bring data and encourage other discussions, highlighting the importance of this topic in academic careers.
