About This Event
Event Description:
The lecture will aim to explain what Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) is and how alcohol consumption during pregnancy affects children's long-term brain development. Specifically, the lecture will explain how children with FASD function after birth, which deficits can be found in their cognition and behaviour, and which brain areas and functions are involved in the process. Lastly, treatment and prevention methods for FASD, as well as its numerous adverse effects on postnatal brain development, will be discussed.
