About This Event
Event Description:
Volunteers from the University of South Carolina are celebrating Brain Awareness Week 2021 by offering “neuroSC,” a virtual 8-
week long neuroscience workshop/course for high school students, as well as through the First Annual South
Carolina Brain Bee that will wrap up the 8 week-long neuroscience course and occur during BAW on March 20th. Beginning in January and occurring once a week until BAW, “neuroSC” aims to introduce a variety of neuroscience topics, a range of brain-related careers and
various areas of neuroscience research areas to high school students from all corners of South Carolina as they explore the foundations
of the brain and nervous system virtually with faculty, staff, and students (medical, graduate and
undergraduate) from the University of South Carolina. “neuroSC” will be
followed by the first South Carolina Brain Bee on March 20th, 2021. Given the virtual nature of both “neuroSC” and the South Carolina Brain Bee, high school students will have the ability to participate without needing to travel to Columbia, SC! We are excited to share our interest in the brain with students from across our state!
