About This Event
Event Description:
The Mental Health Awareness Committee from the University of the Pacific is hosting a speaker event as part of Brain Awareness Week. The guest speaker is Mr. Michael Fields, the Executive Director of Peer Recovery Services at the Wellness Center of San Joaquin County. He will be discussing his journey with sobriety and mental health. He will also be covering topics such as a pharmacist’s role in mental health and resources on how to support yourself and others. As part of Brain Awareness Week, the goal of this event is to provide pharmacy school students and the general public with the opportunity to learn more about mental health and ways to deal with mental illnesses. Not only will participants learn how to talk to patients with mental health diseases, but those who attend may find ways and resources to deal with the stress and anxiety in their own lives. Michael Fields’ experiences of recovery will hopefully inspire students who are struggling with mental health to find ways to improve their health and then provide help to their future patients.
