About This Event
Event Description:
Serotonin is a key chemical for brain functions as it regulates mood, anxiety and happiness amongst others. Medicines which increase serotonin levels in the brain help to alleviate some of these conditions but also results in several unwanted side-effects. On the other hand there is a renaissance in psychedelic substances which also act via the serotonin system and holds promise to have therapeutic potential. Which brings up several research questions that are of general interest amongst scientists and the public – such as how is psilocybin different from classical anti-depressants or how does LSD helps in ego-dissolution?
We will together learn a bit more about these differences at our NeuroCure station and I would be happy to talk to you about my own research in this context.
