Event Description:
Neuroethics is a branch of bioethics that addresses the ethical, legal, social and cultural issues and concerns generated by the development and use of neuroscience and neurotechnology and their potential impact on the nature of human beings and other organisms.
Currently, neuroscience and neurotechnology have developed innovative, advanced and sophisticated tools and techniques to study the brain and its processes, which has generated a wealth of novel and unprecedented information. This information has helped to better understand various neuropsychiatric pathologies and to improve the quality of life of patients.
However, some of this information includes new knowledge about characteristic features of the mind, which are also characteristic features of what we understand as a human person (consciousness, emotions, thoughts, behaviors, morality, empathy, decision-making, free will, personal identity, etc.). Moreover, neuroscience and neurotechnology have not only succeeded in evaluating and intervening in these processes, but have also replicated them in the form of artificial intelligence. Therefore, advances in brain sciences have generated, worldwide, great concerns and debates about the essence and the human condition.
This congress focuses on trying to bring together diverse perspectives from different countries and contexts related to these advances and concerns.

a neuroética es una rama de la bioética que aborda temas y preocupaciones ético, legales, sociales y culturales generadas por el desarrollo y el uso de la neurociencia y neurotecnología y de su posible impacto en la naturaleza del ser humano y de otros organismos.
Actualmente, la neurociencia y la neurotecnología han desarrollado herramientas y técnicas innovadoras, avanzadas y sofisticadas para lograr estudiar al cerebro y sus procesos, lo que ha generado una gran cantidad de información novedosa y sin precedentes. Esta información ha ayudado a entender mejor diversas patologías neuropsiquiátricas y a mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes.
Sin embargo, parte de esta información incluye nuevos conocimientos sobre rasgos característicos de la mente, los cuales también son rasgos característicos de lo que entendemos por persona humana (conciencia, emociones, pensamientos, conductas, moralidad, empatía, toma de decisiones, libre albedrío, identidad personal, etc.). Además, la neurociencia y la neurotecnología no solo han logrado evaluar e intervenir en estos procesos, sino que también los han replicado en la forma de inteligencia artificial. Por lo tanto, los avances en las ciencias del cerebro han generado a nivel global, grandes preocupaciones y debates acerca de la esencia y condición humana.
Este congreso se enfoca en tratar de reunir diversas perspectivas del mundo, relacionadas a estos avances y preocupaciones.
