About This Event
Event Description:
“Neuromyths” are wrongful information that comes from, a wrong interpretation or overinterpretation of neuroscience research (Ekuni & Pompéia, 2016), such as the belief that the right hemisphere of the brain is more artistic, while the left is more logical (Willis, 2015) or some students uses more one side of the hemisphere than the other. We will present the main neuromyths, their impact, a couple of professor's testimonies, and the data from our research article, ”Neuroscience Knowledge and Endorsement of Neuromyths among Educators: What is the Scenario in Brazil?”, which talks about what brazilians professors need to know to teach better. The purpose of this presentation, which will be held in a Live format lasting 1 hour, is to make teachers aware of neuromyths so that they do not base their pedagogical practice on mistakes and do not disclose wrong information to their students or colleagues. The goal is to contribute to eradicating neuromyths in education, bringing information based on science.
