Neuroscience in schools

Event Description:

The academics of the medical course of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Tres Rios -FCM/TR, who are part of the Neuroscience League of FCM/TR – LANC, carried out an activity on 03/15/2022 to 03/16/2022 with a total of 10 classes of the high school at Escola Municipal Americo Silva, located in the city of Tres Rios. The academics presented anatomical parts of the components of the Central Nervous System (brain and spinal cord), explaining their functions to the students; presented an anatomical model of a neuron, indicating its parts and functions, in addition to presenting its morphological types, using 3D printed neuron models; briefly explained to students how communication between neurons (synapses) occurs, using a 3D printed synapse model; and, at the end of the activity, the students made drawings related to the activity. The students were very excited about the activity, asked many questions, and very beautiful drawings. On other days (03/14, 03/17 and 03/18/2022), the academics published educational posts (about the brain lobes and their functions, about the social brain, etc.) on the LANC profile on Instagram.
