About This Event
Event Description:
The Proaction Lab will be hosting various sessions of two different activities for children. This year, and due to the pandemic, the sessions will be virtual but not less fun and engaging. Our researchers are very excited to share the wonders of the brain with everyone. We called our project “Neuroscientists on demand”.
The sessions can be understood as a complement to #EstudoEmCasa. We predict the sessions will last about 30 minutes and include a theoretical part as well as a practical one. The spoken language will be Portuguese. As stated above, we prepared two different activities targeting children at different school levels.
For the First Cycle students, we have an activity about the brain regions and the cognitive functions associated with these regions. We will discuss why the brain is so important and give examples of its influence on our bodies. The practical part will focus on applying the knowledge of the first half by identifying on a blank diagram the different regions discussed. Children will have the opportunity to colour the diagram highlight the brain lobes with different colours.
For the Second and Third Cycles students, we have prepared an activity about vision. During the theoretical part of this session, we will discuss how visual information travels from the eyes to the brain, making sense of the world around us. We will also talk about optic illusions and, during the practical part, present a variety of well-know optic illusions, challenging students to identify the illusion and, is possible, beat them.
