About This Event
Event Description:
Nova Southeastern University will be hosting the 1st Annual Brain Bee and Poster Competition on Saturday, March 12th. Doors open for registration, poster setup, networking, and lunch at 11:30 AM. The Brain Bee begins promptly at 1:00 PM.
The Brain Bee is a competition for HS students to learn about the brain and behavior. It is an individual competition and would include multiple rounds (written and oral) to narrow the field until a winner is crowned. The Brain Bee focuses on biological psychology, cognitive science, and clinical disorders. All brain bee questions will come from the Brain Facts Book, which is freely available for download/there is an audio book. These free resources should be used to study for the Brain Bee Competition.
The day we have planned will include other events in addition to the Brain Bee competition, including a poster competition for high school students, lab demos, and NSU faculty and student presentations about ongoing research. For the poster competition, high school students may present original research OR a literature search/overview of an area of interest in the field of psychology or neuroscience. Students are welcomed to participate in just one event (Brain Bee or poster competition), or both! Students and families can also just attend as spectators.
Prizes for events are as follows (each for Brain Bee and Poster Comp): 1st = $300, 2nd = $200, 3rd = $100!
