BRAIN AWARENESS WEEK – 13-19 March 2023
The brain is the most elusive of the human organs. Scientists have been trying to uncover its mysteries for centuries and now you can do that, too!
Brain Awareness Week (BAW) is a global campaign to foster public enthusiasm and support for brain science and every year, SOMS in collaboration with the National Society of Neuroscience (SNN), aims to bring you closer to understanding the complexity of the human brain through this event.
Brain research allows us to understand our biology and body functions better, which empowers medical professionals to find ways to prevent or treat various diseases. This is exactly what BAW aims to achieve. So, whether you’re interested in biology, psychology, neurology, neuroscience or just curious about how your brain works and how it perceives the world around you, everybody’s welcome! BAW is open to anyone and everyone, regardless of their age and field of work.
The event will take place at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest and is free of charge. The programme will include:
an open lab day, where you can enter the lab of the Centre of Excellence in Neuroscience, meet the scientists and become immersed in its beauty; you will also find out how you can get involved in our research projects
and an in-depth presentation of ComaEEG, an international research network which aims to bring together researchers dedicated to improving neurophysiological monitoring of the brain
