About This Event
Event Description:
Mental and emotional wellbeing is critical to overall health. By supporting teens in developing healthy coping and decision-making skills, they can be set up for success in dealing with stress and challenging circumstances in the future. WFF will facilitate the NIH lesson “Nurturing My Mental & Emotional Health” to promote mindfulness and teach teens how to practice health-enhancing behaviors, which can support better management of stress and reduce the chances of exploring substance use as an alternative. WFF will conclude with the lesson “Healthy Decision Making” from the curriculum REAL Essentials Advance to help teens discover healthy decision-making and problem-solving skills. This lesson involves defining problems, listing options, and considering outcomes that everyone is happy with.
Practice health-enhancing activities that promote and nurture their mental and emotional health. Implement NIH lesson plan “Nurturing My Mental & Emotional Health.” https://teens.drugabuse.gov/teachers/lessonplans/nurturing-my-mental-emotional-health; Implement evidence-based curriculum REAL Essentials Advance, lesson plan “Healthy Decision Making.”
