About This Event
Event Description:
In social relationships, communication is essential. Individual recognition through vocalizations can bring benefits not only for the sender but also for the receiver. Therefore, our goal is to demonstrate the importance of individualized vocalizations in relationships between animals (human and non-human). We will start with an activity that aims to direct the remainder of the presentation. In this activity, we will play the voices of famous people and instruct participants to interact via chat messages, answering their reactions to the recording. After that we will discuss the advantages of vocal recognition in social relationships in animals, bringing examples not only from other animals but also humans. We hope that by the end of our talk the participants will: (1) have a broader understanding of acoustic communication in animals and (2) recognize the benefits of individual recognition in social relations.
