THE BRAIN AND ART: Visual artist Naomi Andrée Campbell and neurologist Felice Ghilardi, MD, discuss the impact of art on the brain. Participants will learn how art is being used in rehabilitative medicine, the increasing evidence that art enhances brain function by impacting brain wave patterns, emotions, and the nervous system, as well as raising serotonin levels and can even stimulate the creation of new neural pathways and ways of thinking. (Dr. Ghilardi is a neurologist with a 30-year career in research, with a focus on Parkinson’s disease and brain plasticity. Naomi Andrée Campbell is a Japanese, Canadian-born, Brooklyn-based interdisciplinary artist. She explores sense and perception in art and science.)
