About This Event
Event Description:
Facilitators will talk about the brain and senses to the audience. Facilitators will have pictures of the brain at preschool learning level displayed. Facilitators will use Dana Foundation handouts including Truth or Myth activities to encourage discussion of the brain and senses. Participants will be encouraged to use hand sanitizer before participating. Participants will take turns selecting from 1 of 20 repurposed decorated containers that has contents inside. No one can tell what is inside from looking at the container. Participants will then choose to wear a blindfolder or close their eyes with no peeking. Participants will be handed a container. Participants will shake the container to try to use their sense of hearing to guess what’s in the container. Audience will be asked not to shout out contents if they can guess what’s in the container. If Participant cannot correctly guess contents with shaking, they will be encouraged or have assistance to remove the lid of the container and will be encouraged to use their senses of smell and touch to identify contents and encouraged to describe what they feel or smell and guess contents. Participants will be discouraged from tasting items in containers. Some examples of items include crayons, spaghetti, playdough.
