About This Event

Event Description:

We have an exciting lineup of activities. We'll be exploring the world of neuroscience and technology through a series of hands-on experiments. Our first activity is "Build and Control your own DIY Neuroprosthetic: a Cyborg Hand!" In this experiment, you'll learn how to create a neuroprosthetic that can be controlled with your own muscles. Follow the instructions provided by the website: https://backyardbrains.com/experiments/DIYNeuroprosthetic.

Next up, we have "Record Electricity from Your Muscles!" This experiment will teach you how to use a Muscle SpikerBox to record the electrical signals produced by your muscles. Check out the instructions here: https://backyardbrains.com/experiments/muscleSpikerBox.
Before we move on to our next activity, let's take a few minutes to learn about the fascinating world of microscopy and the brain. I'll be passing out pre-made slides, and we'll walk through what you're seeing. This will be followed by a brief 5-minute presentation on the brain and microscopy. Lastly, we'll be taking a break to refuel and recharge.
