The Journey of Music in Brain Networks and Its Effects on Neuroplasticity

Functional neuroimaging studies on structural and functional brain networks offer new and useful perspectives for many disciplines, especially medicine, health and special education. For this reason, it is important that students who will be active in these fields in the future meet with concepts such as brain network organization, neuroplasticity, translational neuroscience and interdisciplinary work, develop a conscious awareness and become more interested in neuroscience. . In this context, our project primarily aims to introduce the brain to the students of the relevant programs of three different universities in Eskişehir through a briefing in which current neuroscience studies will be presented. Secondly, it is aimed for students to personally experience how neuroscience knowledge is reflected in neurorehabilitation and special education practices by participating in an experimental interactive workshop to be held in accordance with neuroscience-based music therapy principles and methods.

Our BAW 2023 event consists of two parts, a 1-hour seminar and a 1.5-hour experiential workshop. In the seminar, how the perception and production processes of music occur in structural and functional brain networks and the relationship of these processes with neuroplasticity, sensory-motor, emotional and cognitive processes will be explained. The workshop section will include practices to experience how music can be used to stimulate neuroplasticity and support non-music functions such as emotion recognition and expression, attention, memory and executive function skills. It is aimed that the participants actively participate in practices structured according to the principles and methods of music therapy to be carried out in our Neurocreative Music Therapy Unit, with various percussion instruments, sounds and body movements.

Yapısal ve fonksiyonel beyin ağları üzerinde yapılan fonksiyonel nörogörüntüleme çalışmaları başta tıp, sağlık ve özel eğitim olmak üzere birçok disiplin için yeni ve faydalı bakış açıları sunmaktadır. Bu nedenle gelecekte bu alanlarda aktif olacak öğrencilerin beyin ağı organizasyonu, nöroplastisite, translasyonel nörobilim ve disiplinler arası çalışma gibi kavramlarla tanışması, bilinçli bir farkındalık geliştirmesi ve nörobilime daha fazla ilgi duyması önemlidir. . Bu bağlamda projemiz öncelikle Eskişehir'deki üç farklı üniversitenin ilgili programlarının öğrencilerine güncel nörobilim çalışmalarının sunulacağı bir seminer aracılığıyla beyni tanıtmayı amaçlamaktadır. İkinci olarak, nörobilim temelli müzik terapi ilke ve yöntemlerine uygun olarak gerçekleştirilecek deneysel interaktif bir atölye çalışmasına katılarak öğrencilerin nörobilim bilgisinin nörorehabilitasyon ve özel eğitim uygulamalarına nasıl yansıdığını bizzat deneyimlemeleri amaçlanmaktadır.

BAW 2023 etkinliğimiz 1 saatlik seminer ve 1,5 saatlik deneyimsel atölye olmak üzere iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. Seminerde, yapısal ve fonksiyonel beyin ağlarında müziğin algılanma ve üretim süreçlerinin nasıl gerçekleştiği ve bu süreçlerin nöroplastisite, duyu-motor, duygusal ve bilişsel süreçlerle ilişkisi anlatılacaktır. Atölye bölümü, müziğin nöroplastisiteyi uyarmak ve duygu tanıma ve ifade etme, dikkat, hafıza ve yönetici işlev becerileri gibi müzik dışı işlevleri desteklemek için nasıl kullanılabileceğini deneyimlemeye yönelik uygulamaları içerecektir. Nörokreatif Müzik Terapi Ünitemizde çeşitli vurmalı çalgılar, sesler ve vücut hareketleriyle gerçekleştirilecek müzik terapi ilke ve yöntemlerine göre yapılandırılmış uygulamalara katılımcıların aktif olarak katılmaları amaçlanmaktadır.
