About This Event
Event Description:
We will go in a journey through time to understand how ideas about the brain, mind, thoughts and emotions have changed throughout history. What are the technologies that over the last fifty years have made it possible to view the complexity of our brain and its intrinsic relationship with the mind? Lastly, we will dive into the neurosciences and their ability to influence culture, including in areas that were once only the domain of the human sciences.
MAURIZIO CORBETTA
With a degree in Medicine (Verona) and a master’s in Neurology (St. Louis), he conducted research in the neuroimaging labs of Washington University in Missouri for many years. He had a very successful academic career, occupying senior posts at this university as a neuroscientist and clinical neurologist. In 2016, he was called to the role of professor of Neurology and head of the Neurology clinic at the University of Padova, where he has launched intense research activity in the field of fundamental and clinical neurosciences.

Un viaggio nel tempo per capire come le idee sul cervello, la mente, i pensieri e le emozioni si sono trasformate nel corso della storia. Quali sono le tecnologie che negli ultimi cinquant’anni hanno permesso di visualizzare la complessità del nostro cervello e la sua relazione intrinseca con la mente? Infine, un’esplorazione nel mondo delle neuroscienze e sulla loro capacità di influenzare la cultura anche in aree che erano una volta solo dominio delle scienze umanistiche.
MAURIZIO CORBETTA
Laureato in Medicina e specializzato in Neurologia a Verona e St. Louis, ha fatto ricerca per vari anni nei laboratori di neuroimmagini della Washington University, Missouri. Ha percorso in questa università una carriera accademica di grande successo, ricoprendo le più alte posizioni di neuroscienziato e neurologo clinico. Nel 2016 è stato chiamato alla cattedra di Neurologia e alla direzione della clinica omonima presso l’Università di Padova, dove ha avviato una intensa attività di ricerca nel campo delle neuroscienze fondamentali e cliniche.
