“The Sun vs. virus“ – the influence of vitamin D on the development of respiratory infections

Does the level of vitamin D in the blood affect human health, and does it affect the development of respiratory infections, including COVID-19?
The emerging pandemic has attracted a great deal of attention from researchers and doctors to the effect of vitamin D in the fight against COVID-19. Although not as popular with the public as some other supplements, there is growing evidence that vitamin D is extremely important in regulating the immune system. However, the idea of the importance of vitamin D is slowly reaching the public. Can sun exposure and vitamin D supplementation help us in the fight against, not only the COVID-19 pandemic, but other diseases as well? In this lecture we will try to answer some of these questions.
