Just imagine we wave a magic wand and all the viruses on Earth disappear! We are often focused only on those viruses that cause problems to humanity but thinking about what the world would be like without viruses encourages us to better understand what role they play on Earth. The vast majority of viruses are not pathogenic to humans, and many play an important role in propping up ecosystems.
