Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:

At BASIS Independent Brooklyn, I offer a Capstone: Neuroscience course for seniors. The students in this course organized an interactive journey through the lobes of the brain with the target audience being the younger students- elementary and middle school specifically. We handed out DANA created Mind Boggle workbooks along with pencils and erasers to participants after they went through the booth activities. While I was proud of what we accomplished, I do wish we had done more advertising ahead of time and/or chosen a more opportune time to attract participants. For next year, I intend to have flyers and such posted around the school and a few weeks beforehand to build up hype.

Event Planning & Publicity

Publicity Methods Used:

  • Calendar Listings (newspapers, radio, television)
  • Emails

Other Publicity Methods:

Word of mouth

Which of These Publicity Methods Was The Most Successful?

Honestly, word of mouth was most effective because I was able to speak to teachers who specifically brought their students.
