Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
A fair was be held over the weekend, with workshops and talks.
The talks were in Spanish or Basque and covered topics regarding the development of language in infants and neuronal plasticity. They were retransmitted via Zoom for those attendees that were not able to assist in person.
The workshops comprised different activities for the children and their families, giving them an overview of the brain and its functions. They started by creating neurons from craft blocks and seeing how they connect to each other to transmit information. The next step was to learn about the different areas of the brain and their functions, for which a paper hat was made and compared to a real animal brain! The workshops ended with a fun collection of optical illusions to learn more about perception and how our brains can sometimes trick us. The workshops were offered in Basque, Spanish, and English.
In addition, on school days, students from different schools participated in workshops specially designed according to their age at the Eureka museum.
