Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
The main objective of the work was to insert our Municipality and region in the National Brain Week, and to initiate the discussion on Neurosciences, mainly its application in Health and Education. We use as a health strategy to approach the professionals of the area, going to them, and offering a little practice of Mindfulness, exposing the self in the brain with this type of practice, and how we can potentiate our brains to develop the best work possible with our patients, and contribute to the health of the municipality as a whole. We worked together with the Coordinating Doctor, Dr. Erlon Garcia Guterrez, who elaborated the project with us. We were able to sensitize the professionals present, so that we could continue the work during the year, in order to reach the professionals, and these repercussions this knowledge with the patients. In the educational area, we work with professionals and the public in general, addressing the importance of Neuroscience in our day to day life, and how we can use the knowledge presented to our children and students. The receptivity was very good, once again allowing the beginning of a work, which will now be followed by specific meetings in smaller groups, mainly with professionals, so that they can carry forward the important discoveries of the neurosciences. Our conception on this subject is that Neuroscience knowledge only makes sense if it is accessible to the community. They can not be closed in a group of studies and researches. Of course, studies and research are essential so that we can make the progress of this science, but they have to be applied in practice, because we have a lot to change in relation to the community, and in health and education there are many points.
