Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
The University of Phoenix event was an exhibit and introduction to mindfulness experience. Through the support of staff, the event was promoted 4 weeks in advance resulting in met goals of approximately 400 viewers (exhibit) and 18 participants for the mindfulness event. The Island Pacific Academy event reached approximately 350 people. The event was postponed to 4/3/2018 because of a scheduling conflict. Other than the rescheduled date, the assembly went exceptionally well with students, teachers and parents actively engaged in sharing ideas and practicing techniques, like tapping and smiling to support brain health and overall wellness. I loved working with the children and seeing their eyes light up when they felt they gained something new. They also loved the brain erasers!

In general, people were appreciative to learn more about the different brain functions and ways to improve focus (big concern). Kids enjoyed learning about ways to reduce stress and organic ways of producing happiness.
Please share any suggestions or lessons learned that may help others plan future events:
Next year I will begin promoting the event the first week of January when many are of the mind to adopt wellness into their lifestyle.
