Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
Our goals: 1) Lectures about neurodegenerative diseases for university students. Two lectures describing also basic and clinical research gained a big interest and inspiring disscussion. 2) Doors open at the institute which is focused on the research of neurodegenerative diseases. Interesting lectures about research on large animal models were followed by tour in several laboratories with practical illustration of the work (research). 3) Campaign and workshop Neurodegenerative diseases around us – for general public, in large schopping centre in Prague. Neurodegenerative diseases, their causes, potential prevention and also basic and clinical research of the brain diseases were discussed. A lot of brain tests, coloring sheets, origami and cutouts were prepared for the visitors. The informational and educational materials about HD and brain research were distributed among the people. 4) Art competition – How do you imagine brain research? – for general public, mainly students of elementary schools attended. More than 900 persons were reached and overall 16 researchers were involved in the project.

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?
We feel that we increased the awareness about neurodegenerative diseases what was the main goal. We also feel, that generat public consider the research of neurodegerative diseases is very interesting and helpful.
