Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
Our activity associated with the celebration of BAW-Concepción 2022, corresponded to the opening of the 2022 school year for 71 schools and 12 public kindergartens belonging to the communes of Concepción, Chiguayante, Hualqui and Florida, in the Biobío region, Chile. These activities were carried out in person at the 2 public high schools of the Florida commune, which correspond to the Inés Enríquez Frödden and Luis Avala establishments, on March 28 and 29, 2022. Both activities included presentations by renowned scientists from the University of Concepción, who shared their most recent advances with the school community. Among the researchers who participated we found Dr. Osvaldo Ulloa, with his talk: “Journey to the underworld: exploring the Atacama Trench”; Dr. Gustavo Moraga: “How drugs affect our brain”; Dr. Teresa Caprile: “Role of Sleep in the Nervous System” and Dr. Luis Aguayo: “Neuroscience, the Brain and the Explanation of Social Conflict”.
It should be noted that these face-to-face activities were attended by around 200 students and the main educational authorities of the region, such as the regional ministerial secretary, the director of the local education service Andalién Sur, among others. Additionally, it is important to note that we decided to hold this celebration from a small and rural community, in order to provide an incentive and motivation to its students, especially considering the difficulties experienced during the pandemic. Despite the above, both activities were broadcast via streaming on the YouTube channel of the local education service and are available online. The possibility of web transmission allowed us to reach 14,000 students and 2,000 teachers who belong to the education service.

Feedback & Keys to Success
How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?
Mainly to generate instances of direct interaction between prominent researchers from the most important regional University at the national level (Universidad de Concepcion) and the local community, specifically with students and teachers from a small rural community such as Florida, Biobio, Chile.
Please share any suggestions or lessons learned that may help others plan future events:
Making the effort to reach personally small communities has a huge impact on students, teachers and the local community in general. The possibility of transmission via web, despite carrying out activities from remote places, opens the opportunity to involve a relevant volume of participants, but it is necessary to verify the operational capacities in advance, to ensure the success of the activity.
