Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:

General objective Formed by a collection of increasingly rare brain parts, many of which were prepared by techniques of special preservation and dissection, the Museum of Neuroanatomy of the Faculty of Medicine of UFU, knowledge of the constitution of the various structures that form the neural system and also awareness and dissemination to the public of the importance of scientific knowledge about the encephalon to the population in general. Specific objectives • Disseminate the neurosciences produced at FAMED UFU in the national brain week; • Promote the democratization of education, enabling the school community to expand opportunities facilitating the access of students from the public school community to knowledge and materials available only to undergraduate courses in the health area; • Empowering the general population to make contact with the academic environment, exchange of experiences and knowledge possibility of observing how the brains are used for teaching; • Disseminate alternative teaching / learning mechanisms using differentiated resources with 3D technology developed in the laboratory. As results we had the visitation of several schools that visited the interactive museum of the brain, the students got to know the neuroscience laboratory, visited the neuroanatomy exhibition and at the end of the activity they were able to color the brain helmet.

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?

The project benefited our laboratory, since with BAW we had a visibility of our laboratory and we were able to divulge to high schools the neurosciences and to arouse the interest of the students to know neuroscience..
