Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
DBSA Colorado Springs held an Open House and Lecture, 7:00pm,Thursday, March 15, 2018. In addition, we had guest speaker, John Fleming, MD, PLLC, who presented a lecture entitled, “Newest Treatments for Depression: rTMS and Ketamine: Latest Advancements and Applications” The audience was very receptive to hearing about what new protocols are coming on the scene to treat mood disorders, where they are now available, and whether they are covered by insurance. Although scheduled to end by 9:00pm, many stayed far beyond with questions.

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?
This annual event allows DBSA Colorado Springs to highlight the importance of brain research. Interestingly, many mental health professionals attended this year’s Open House and Lecture, and our presenters have continued to ask that they be asked to return the following year.
