Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
On Thursday, March 19, 2015, the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) of Colorado Springs, held an Open House from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm, in the DBSA-CS Lending Library, 2132 E. Bijou St., Colorado Springs. In addition to handing out many of the BAW materials ordered for this event, more were handed out to attendees at 9 DBSA support group meetings held during the week, as well as distributed to all 3 local psychiatric hospitals. At 7:00 pm, later that day, DBSA Colorado Springs held a speaker presentation given by Elliot S. Cohen, M.D., entitled, “Effective Medication Treatment of Mood Disorders: What Really Works, and What Doesn’t”. Over 50 people attended taking home with them BAW booklets, brochures and handouts designed especially for this event. Excellent media coverage was carried in the Colorado Springs’ weekly, The Independent. It is estimated that this publication notice was seen by at some 50,000
