Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
The project ‘A Workshop of Neuroscience and Cognition at our School’ aims to create an integrated experience for Vocational Education students where they can approach to the latest advances in research in the field, and at the same time become aware of how their brain works in the process of learning. By completing or modifying the beliefs that students have about how they learn, the goal is to directly impact their learning process. As well, the workshop also seeks the participation of the teachers of the school with the same objective. The project is aimed mainly at the students of Vocational Education of Clinical and Biomedical Laboratory of the school, although it is open to other specialties and teachers. The Workshop has structured several activities throughout the days between March 13 and March 22, mainly covering the Brain Awareness Week of 2018. Among the proposed activities, there are four talks by top researchers in their field, which we detail below, and three activities where students can participate actively in the workshop. The other activities are a debate in the topic of Neuroenhancement with the roleplay game based on the PlayDecide platform, and a poster session in which students present research articles in Neuroscience and Cognition and retated topics. We are satisfied with the achivements of the students in the Workshop. They showed up motivated and engaged in general. We had the opportunity to assist to very interesting talks and activities.

Feedback & Keys to Success
How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?
The studenst could have the opportunity to get in contact to several topics in Neuroscience otherwise they wouldn’t have been. The students were provided with data about how their brains work in learning, getting more conscious about the biological basis of the learning process and empowering them with knowledge about the innate capacities of their brains.
Please share any suggestions or lessons learned that may help others plan future events:
One thing we learned is how important is to plan enough time for the events, because sometimes is difficult to fit them in a schedule of a whole school which is full of other projects.
