Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
This year, we celebrated 19th BRAIN AWARENESS WEEK in Eskisehir. We organized several BAW events for different age groups. We targeted children of the play age (ages 5-6), primary school students (ages 10-12), high school students (ages 14-18), their teachers and also general public. To expand the BAW activities to the rural area in Eskişehir, BAW had been conducted in a small town, Seyitgazi. The BAW 2017 in Eskişehir-Turkey included five distinct projects: Lab Tours, Brain Bee, Symposium, Conferences, Schools Programs. This year, we organized 10th Turkish Brain Bee. This competition coordinated by Prof. Ferhan ESEN. Our BAW program started on March 7 2017 with lab tours specifically organized for Turkish National Brain Bee competitors. 75 local high school students were participating in Brain Bee. Buket Er from Kılıçoğlu Anadolu High School won first place. We also organized: Brain Awareness Symposium, The 10th Turkish Brain Bee Award Ceremony and several school programs. SCHOOL PROGRAMS We visited preschool of TED Eskişehir College and Boğaziçi Preschool in Eskişehir. We have collaborated with ESOGU and Seyitgazi/Eskisehir Office of the Ministry of National Education to make a visit to the four schools (preschool, primary school, middle and high school). We also prepared posters, The Brain and Nervous System, and Sense Organs, and we donated these posters to the visited schools.

Feedback & Keys to Success
How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?
We believe that the making organizations such as BAW are the responsibility of university, especially medical faculty, to the local community. It provides the general public not only to learn the importance of brain health but also advertise the university to community. Turkish National Brain Bee (TNBB) competition which we are able to organize only in Eskişehir in Turkey is going for its 10th anniversary this year.
