We celebrated #BrainWeek for a whole week full of funny and informative outdoor activities that tool place on campus, Helwan Medical school. In the opening day, we challenged the participants to read the names of colors written and try to recognize the actual color the words written in regardless to the word itself. The game was based on the idea of “Stroop Test” . It was interesting for most of the participants according to an evaluation form. On the 2nd day we challenged the short-term memory of the audience by asking them quick orders, then ask them to recall the 4th order. It was a stressful game and at the end, we gave them some facts about short-term memory and how to increase you memorizing ability. On the 3rd day, we had a special guest, Dr. Mohammed AlAwam, Psychiatry professor, Faculty of Medicine, Helwan University who presented to the audience amazing lecture “How use your brain effectively”. At the end of the day, an Online evaluation form has been sent to the participant and the feedback was so supportive. In the closing was, we engaged the participants in a “Brain Myths” competition at which we challenged them to answer some common myths questions about the brain. It was a surprise of them to discover the real scientific story about each brain myth. At the end of the day, an evaluation form has been sent to the participants to evaluate the whole week and the feedback was more than expected, so supportive! Generally, it was interesting and funny to participate in BAW.

Helwan Medical School is a new-born institution, and participating is such an international event is very appreciated. BAW is totally organized by first year medical students, Rehab Emad & Osama Alnahas, scientific committee, Students’ Union. The challenges that appeared along the way made it a life-long experience ! Participants enjoyed Brain facts especially those misconceptions about brain capacity and intelligence. Most of the activities were outdoor which made them funny and informative
