Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:

Main topic of our BAW was neuroscience of intolerance. Beside our main topic, there were two more topics: children brain and left and right brain communication. Poster with upcoming events were distributed through the city, in public transportation and schools, faculty building ect. Also BAW was mentioned on local TV and in local newspaper, and through various social networks. Through the week we held workshops for elementary, middle and high school and faculty students. Every day afternoon lectures open for public were held. Also we had organized a Science cafe about violence and brain, and public forum about autism. Theater play was held on theme of empathy, Objective of our program was popularization of neuroscience, primarily to the students, and we thing we achieve our goal. BAW is held for some years in city of Osijek, and this year, just like past years, people were looking forward to is.

Feedback & Keys to Success

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?

Most benefit in our faculty have students, they are gaining experience in organization, workshops and lectures presentation. Our city was expecting us to held the BAW, it became tradition. It is a opportunity to hear some quality scientific lectures, workshops etc.

Please share any suggestions or lessons learned that may help others plan future events:

If you want to get to high school and faculty student population, best way is to use students for that. Nowdays, information are exchanged mostly through social networks.
