Call back to Life: Sensations and Perceptions of the Sensory Garden to the Cells of the Human Body PURPOSE: Anxiety, stress, attention difficulties, concentration, and even depression all can be the result of the huge amount of sensory stimuli we receive every day. Focus 1. to present information about the brain functioning regarding the sensation and perception from sensory experiences realized in the Sensory Garden and in the permanent exhibition “The Cell with the Reach of the Hand” in the Science Center; 2. to promote a reflection with society about the sub-threshold effects of sensory and perceptual processes in our mental health; 3. alert to the positive and negative effects with regard to lack of time and attention to our senses and their effects on our mental health. Procedures Guided group tours will be held with participants who will experience varied sensory and perceptual experiences provided by the Sensory Garden and the Cell Room. In this way, we will learn how our nervous system processes these experiences in a fast way and automatic in most cases. RESULTS: The participating public reported experiencing feelings of relaxation and pleasure enhancing their well being. The knowledge acquired during the experience was also motivating, increasing interest in brain functioning and perceptions.
