Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
Florey neuroscientists visited 25 High Schools throughout the Melbourne metropolitan region during Brain Awareness Week. At some schools we spoke to individual classes of 20-25 students, allowing in depth discussion of brainy topics like neuroplasticity, mental health disorders and drug use. Other schools let us talk to the entire Year 12 (senior) level – up to 200 students in some cases – meaning we were able to discuss our research with a wide cross sectional group of students and teachers.
