Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
Brain week was held in Vicenza from 10 to 16 March 2018. It was the first time for uZoé Foundation to be BAW partner and it was also Vicenza’s first brain awareness event. So, our former objective was to reach as much people as possible to spread the knowledge about the Dana Foundation’s initiative. Our program of activities for the BAW aim to explore the importance of our brain as an organ of the human body. First of all, we promote a reflection through images on the topic “The mind and its brain” during an exhibition held in the main square of the city from 10th to 25th march. Almost 3000 people visited it. We also organized 3 conference: Andrea Marini, a cognitive psychologist, talked to high school students about what Neurosciences are; Elisabetta Farina, Neurologist, and Michele Farina, journalist, discussed on Alzheimer Desease starting from the personal experience of the journalist. Third, Maria Luisa Gorno Tempini, reasearcher of the Neurology Department of the University of California San Francisco gave a lecture on how maintain brain plasticity across the lifespan. Last, we host in our venue some workshops for children, where they will be able to conduct experiments to emphasise or exclude the functions of our five senses.
