Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
Brain Awareness week was held in Vicenza from 11 to 17 March 2019. This was the second edition for our Foundation and we still feel that the main objective is to spread the knowledge about the Dana Foundation’s initiative and, consequently, on brain health. Our program aimed to give people some hint of the ways to protect brain: understanding how it works, thinking about the importance of sleeping, mental training and meditation to reduce stress, but also speaking about neurodegenerative diseases. We plan to achieve all these objectives with 6 conferences dedicated to general public with experts, neurologists, university researchers and doctors. These talks were attended by a high number of participants (about 970 people) and were participated with many questions being asked by the audience. We also organized a little movie festival to explore how cinema has represented mental and brain health (200 participants); a workshop of brain training for 200 students and a free cognitive screening with psychologists for elderly people. We also hosted a dance performance regarding relationships, pain and Alzheimer’s desease. The most successful communication channel was our newsletter, thanks to the audience development we have been doing during these years.

Feedback & Keys to Success
How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?
Baw participation helped our organization to connect our activities to a major network of institutions. Being a node of the Baw’s network has been a pleasure and an honor and helped us to reach more people interested in scientific subjects. Also, we had the chance to promote some reflections for our local community about the importance of brain awareness.
