Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:

The Best Brain in Grenada is Mr. Giovanni De Gannes from the Grenada Boys Secondary School. Mr. De Gannes took the challenge five months ago and competed with 15 other students from different secondary schools around the island and now he has emerges as the Best Brain in Grenada from The Christian Services Grenada National Brain Bee Challenge 2017-2018. The Christian Services Grenada National Brain Bee Challenge is a competition between secondary schools students from forms 3 to 5. It is fashioned after the Spelling B Competition with 3 phases, 1- A preliminary stage, 2- A zonal stage and 3- The Finals. However, in this competition all the questions are about the Brain. In preparation for the finals, the last 15 students got the opportunity to visit the St. George’s University for the day where they were exposed to the human brain, and had lectures from different doctors who are either professors or tutors at the university. The Finals was held on Saturday March 17, 2018, 2:30 pm at the Bourne Hall, St. George’s University True Blue Campus with an Opening ceremony where the students were congratulated, motivated and encouraged to do their best and enjoy this experience to the fullest. Then it was the Live Competition. Finalists were vying for the Grand price of a trip to Berlin, Germany to represent our Island Grenada in the International Brain Bee Competition as the only Caribbean Country. At the end of the Brain Bashing competition Mr. Giovanni De Gannes took the Title. The First place winner Mr. Giovanni De Gannes from Grenada Boys Secondary School – Certificates of participation, Stethoscope, SGBC token bags, Winner’s Trophy, Tablet, Trip to Berlin Germany July 7-11,2018, Neuroscience Books.
