Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:

1. Making and Distributing a Brochure – Chief in command of the project and a vice president of HOOT together designed and edited the brochure. Its contents are as follows: Introducing Brain Awareness Week / Global significance of brain research / History of domestic brain research / Achievements of domestic brain research / Brain research in various fields of knowledge / Neuroscience in everyday life. – Printing the brochures costed approximately $218. 2. Mini Forum – We organised a small forum where high school students(specifically, students attending GAFL) can increase their interest in the human brain. Although the primary objective was to advertise an exhibition, we could also convince the audience of accessibility of the brain researches by introducing fun, simple, but surprising facts to them. This event was proceeded as a school program. 3. Exhibition: Neuroscience X GAFL – BAW is a global campaign initiated to increase the public awareness of the importance of brain ‘researches.’ We thought that the focus should be on why further scientific explorations in neuroscience is needed rather than addressing key facts about the brain, which might be better achieved through reading undergraduate anatomy textbooks. Hence, we presented how results of brain researches have been used across various fields such as politics, economics, and philosophy. These fields were selected considering what students at GAFL are most interested in. 4. SNS Event – We asked the visitors of the exhibition to post their photos that show any evidence of BAW on their SNS events with the following hashtag: “#BrainAwarenessWeek2019 #BAW2019atGAFL #GAFLHOOT”

Event Planning & Publicity

Publicity Methods Used:

  • Advertisements
  • Posters/Flyers
  • Social Media

Other Publicity Methods:

We asked teachers at GAFL to mention the campaign during class time. We also distributed brochures to draw more people to the exhibition.

Which of These Publicity Methods Was The Most Successful?

We believe that the brochures were the most successful because most of the exhibition visitors were motivated to participate in the campaign after looking at the brochures.
