Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
Our amazing students ran their own booth every day at lunch for BAW. They passed out tons of community literature, played brain games, built brain hats, and solved crimes and mysteries. They put brain facts in the daily announcements, passed out all of the wonderful materials from the Dana foundation, and cheered on our AP Psych students as they prepare for May’s AP exams. We grew our psych club and the students loved it! The last day, we voted on a psych themed movie to watch in my classroom at lunch and celebrate a job well done. Next year, our students want to plan a speaker series at lunch throughout the week in addition to the fun.

It brought a lot of awareness and better understanding of mental health, psych, and the brain to high school students at a very important time in their development – especially in the current political climate regarding mental health
Please share any suggestions or lessons learned that may help others plan future events:
I only learned about the Dana foundation from AP Psych teachers on a psych group page. We would have planned more for our event but I found out about it a little late.
