Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:

The IMT School wanted to carry out the BAW initiatives in a virtual way, allowing everyone to enjoy free appointments directly from home. Every day, from Monday 16 March to Friday 20 March, at 5 pm on the School’s facebook page, 5 video conferences were broadcast, dealing with the following topics:- how we make our decisions;- sleep functions;- neurobiological mechanisms that underlie mental functions;- human language;- empathy and emotions.Furthermore, on the dedicated website we have made available to the download: virtual laboratories, many activities (even for the little ones) and some Dana Foundation’s material.

Social media were the most successful method (especially this year when the country was in lockdown) thanks to the fact that their use is now widespread.

Every year, the Brain Awareness Week gives us the opportunity to show to the citizenship the studies that the IMT School carries out in the neuroscience field, increasing public awareness towards brain research.

Online events proved to be very successful, so it could be a good option for those who have a very limited bugdet for the BAW.

It is not always easy for us to use the content provided, since all our events are held in Italian (to get the local public involved), but the information is always helpful to have new ideas
